Ardnamurchan is an unbelievably beautiful corner of Scotland, overlooking the Isle of Mull and the Western Isles.
The Kilchoan House Hotel is situated on the Southern coast of the peninsula with splendid views over the Sound of Mull from many of the rooms.
This former Shooting Lodge built circa. 1870, has 7 very individual en-suite bedrooms. The family owned & run hotel also incorporates the Village Pub, which at some times in the season, can be very lively.
Bar meals and light snacks are available at lunchtime and are served either in our cosy bar, lounge, dining room or even 'Al-Fresco' if you prefer! While in the evenings you may choose from our bar menu and our home-made daily specials.
Due to limited capacity advanced booking is required if you wish to dine in our hotel dining room. We use the very best local and regional produce wherever possible.
Approaching Kilchoan on the narrow but beautiful road that winds through oak and birch, each turning gives yet another glimpse of beauty.
From Salen the road continues along Loch Sunart until forced inland by Ben Hiant, 1729 feet above sea level.
The road returns to the coast at Kilchoan, a scattered village where flowers and hedges riot in the soft mild air. From Kilchoan a trip across the sound of Mull to Tobermory by car ferry opens up delightful vistas of Loch and hill.
Branches of the road lead over to the white sands of Sanna and other beaches on the north and northwest of the peninsula.
The clear waters around these coasts are ideal for skin diving, and the combination of rugged coastline and white sandy beaches makes for some of the best sea kayaking around.. Westward the road goes to Portuairk with a branch finally reaching Ardnamurchan lighthouse on the most westerly point of the British Mainland.
